The South Main Alliance manages the following programs: 

  • TRANSPORTATION MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATION 

    In 2004, the South Main Alliance (SMA) was designated to be the Transportation Management Organization for the greater Texas Medical Center area bounded by US 59 on the north, State Highway 288 on the east, West Bellfort on the South and Main Street, Buffalo Speedway and Kirby on the west.  Public information efforts administered by SMA in this capacity include: 

    • The Houston’s HEART travel information web site
    • The Houston’s HEART travel information E-news
    • Promoting commute solutions and flexible workplace options for area employees
  • HOUSTON MUSEUM DISTRICT ASSOCIATION  

    In 1997, the South Main Alliance (SMA) joined with area museums to form the Houston Museum District Association as a vehicle to enhance and promote the museum district as a destination for Houstonians and visitors to Houston.  For more information about the district and the member museums go to www.houstonmuseumdistrict.org.

  • MAIN STREET COALITION
           In 1997, the South Main Alliance (SMA) together with Central Houston Inc., the Midtown Management District, the Making Main Street Happen Foundation, the City of Houston, Harris County and METRO to form the Main Street Coalition.  Chaired since its inception by community leader and businessman E.D. Wulfe, the Coalition continues to be a vigorous advocate for reclaiming Main Street as Houston’s signature boulevard, revitalizing the pedestrian realm and fostering transit oriented development.
